Hey everyone,
Just a heads-up about an important update for all prepaid electricity users in South Africa. Eskom has set a deadline of 24 November 2024 for updating prepaid meters to Key Revision Number (KRN) 2. After this date, meters still on KRN1 won't accept new electricity tokens, which means once your current credit runs out, you'll lose power. Replacing an inoperable meter could cost up to R12,000, so it's crucial to act now.
How to Check Your Meter:
- Enter the code: On your meter's keypad, type 1844 6744 0738 4377 2416.
- Interpret the display:
- If it shows 1 or 1.2, your meter is still on KRN1 and needs updating.
- If it shows 2 or 2.2, your meter is already updated to KRN2, and no further action is needed.
How to Update Your Meter:
- Purchase electricity: Buy a token from an authorized vendor.
- Receive update tokens: You'll get two 20-digit codes along with your purchase.
- Enter the codes:
- Input the first 20-digit code and wait for it to be accepted.
- Then, input the second 20-digit code.
- Finally, enter your usual 20-digit electricity token to recharge your meter.
Don't wait until the last minute. Ensure your meter is updated before 24 November 2024 to avoid any disruptions. Stay powered up!
