Ronwen Williams, captain of South Africa's national soccer team, Bafana Bafana, and goalkeeper for Mamelodi Sundowns, has recently achieved significant milestones in his career. At the 2024 CAF Awards held in Marrakesh, he was honored with two prestigious titles: Goalkeeper of the Year and Interclub Player of the Year, recognizing his exceptional performances both domestically and internationally.

Earlier in the year, during the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Williams was instrumental in South Africa's success, notably saving four penalties in the quarterfinal shootout against Cape Verde, a feat that propelled Bafana Bafana to their first AFCON semifinal since 2000.

His consistent excellence also earned him a historic nomination for the Yashin Trophy, awarded to the world's best goalkeeper, where he secured a commendable ninth place, marking the first time a player based at an African club has achieved such recognition.
